On Thursday night, the Israeli military said it had intercepted a rocket fired from Yemen.
Sirens sounded in several areas of central Israel “as a result of a rocket fired from Yemen,” the Israel Defense Forces said on Telegram. “The missile was successfully intercepted by the Strela air defense system. After interception and falling fragments, sirens and explosions were heard,” the department added.
Since November, the Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea with drones and missiles, saying these actions are a show of solidarity with Palestinians involved in the war in the Gaza Strip, The Guardian notes.

Hezbollah has confirmed the death of Mohammed Srour, the head of the group’s drone unit, who was killed in an Israeli strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Thursday. Srour, born in 1973, studied mathematics and was one of Hezbollah’s top advisers sent to Yemen to train Houthi rebels, a source close to Hezbollah told AFP. This is the fourth attack in a week against Hezbollah commanders in a densely populated area, one of the group’s strongholds.
