Doctors advertised 90 percent of imported equipment in Russian dental clinics
The share of imported equipment, materials and consumables in Russian dental clinics is on average 90 percent, and for some items – 100 percent. The vast majority of foreign products were advertised by Russian dentists, Moskovsky Komsomolets writes.
According to the publication, the cost of dental treatment under sanctions has increased by an average of 30 percent since February. At the same time, some clinics have doubled their prices.
In many additional health insurance (VHI) programs, one of the conditions is the use by doctors of exclusively foreign materials, a source from the Russian Dental Association told the newspaper. “Even in the territorial compulsory health insurance programs in some regions, there is also that mention,” she points out.
According to the source, almost all the equipment used by dentists is produced abroad, including dental chairs, machines and lights, as well as implants, filling cement and crown fixation.
The publication’s source also pointed to the logistical difficulties faced by suppliers. “There is no cargo transportation, and some equipment fell under dual-use customs codes, that is, it is believed that it can be used for military purposes, and this should be subject to sanctions,” he said.
At the April conference of the Dental Association, there were practically no foreign stands, the newspaper notes. At the same time, its participants noted that under the conditions of sanctions, Russian production has intensified, but it will take time to replace imported equipment with domestic ones.
Dr. Nikolai Shmelev noted that the Russian dental market will not be empty after the departure of foreign manufacturers, but will suffer. “The huge variety of small parts that we use cannot be produced in a couple of months. Yes, and for a couple of years, too,” he said.
Earlier, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov explained the rise in drug prices by the greed of medical merchants. He pointed out the need to stop speculation attempts in the pharmaceutical market.
