Date: May 31, 2023 Time: 00:18:14

“Kathimerini”: Greece is releasing the detained Russian tanker “Pegasus”.

The Greek government will release the Russian tanker “Pegasus” within the next few weeks. This was reported by the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini”.

The Greek is on the hook for the illegal sale of oil to Syria. Greek authorities detained a tanker that was transporting oil as part of EU sanctions but was forced to release it by order of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority.

On April 19, it was revealed that two Russian tankers were detained in the Gulf of the Aegean Sea in Greece. The ships were loaded near Karystos in Greece under a ban on entering EU ports and inland waterways, put in place due to Russia’s actions.
