MEPs staged a scandal at the entrance of a nightclub

Postimees: Estonian MEPs lined up at the entrance of a nightclub in Strasbourg

Estonian MEPs made a scandal at the entrance of a nightclub in Strasbourg, the police had to intervene in the conflict. This writes Postimees with reference to the French media.

The fight started early in the morning on Thursday, May 5, between Estonian MEPs Riho Terrace and Jaak Madison and a security guard at a nightclub in Strasbourg. He asked a group of people, including Terrace and Madison, to put warm clothes in the wardrobe and pay for them. One of the Estonians, whose identity has not been revealed, allegedly made racist remarks about the guard.

The nightclub staff called the police. The Estonians stressed that they have parliamentary immunity. A security guard and a police officer filed a complaint, as a result of which a criminal case was initiated.

Terras told the Estonian broadcast portal ERR that no racist comments were made during the incident, and he himself called the police, who overreacted to the incident. He expressed regret that “the whole situation was full of accusations, assessments and interpretations that simply did not exist,” RIA Novosti quoted the MEP as saying.

Previously, strangers staged a fight in a restaurant in the German capital, which resulted in four people being injured. According to eyewitnesses, diplomats from Eastern European countries also took part in the fighting. It should be noted that the conflict was initiated by an 80-year-old man. Several people were injured, two men aged 43 and 55 and a 39-year-old woman were taken to hospital. One victim received a stab wound.
