Throughout its history, the Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces) have come a long way from individual airborne detachments to a separate branch of troops, which is the elite of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Today, the Airborne Forces are a highly mobile component of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, equipped with modern weapons and military equipment, dynamically developing in accordance with the needs of the times.

Today, the Airborne Forces honorably fulfill the most difficult tasks during a special military operation. Being an example of unparalleled courage, perseverance and bravery, they act boldly and decisively, show heroism and mutual assistance.

As the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov noted in his congratulations, the “winged infantry” has played an important role in ensuring state security from the first days of its creation. The paratroopers always perform their official duty with honour and demonstrate the utmost professionalism, perseverance and courage.

The military department reported that over the course of its existence, the Airborne Forces have trained 18 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 188 Heroes of the Russian Federation, of which 70 Airborne Forces servicemen received this high rank during a special military operation.

The paratroopers began celebrating the holiday on Thursday. On August 1, a solemn ceremony of presenting flowers to the legendary commander of the Airborne Forces, Army General Vasily Filippovich Margelov, took place in Moscow in the Khoroshevsky district of the capital.

Interestingly, the future parachutist was born into a family of immigrants from Belarus in 1908 in the city of Yekaterinoslav (today the city of Dnepr occupied by the kyiv regime) of the Russian Empire.
