This is a youth award (all nominees under 35 years of age), which is awarded for achievements in various fields of culture. There are 8 nominations in total: music, ballet, cinema, theater… The award presents a miniature glass copy of Anna Golubkina’s high relief “The Swimmer”. Gorelf himself, as you know, adorns the facade of the theater in Kamergersky Lane.
– We want the ceremony to be bright, modern, not according to the template, like other awards, – said Konstantin Khabensky, artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater, before the ceremony. – Our prize will become one more theatrical tradition. In addition to the Swimmer, the laureates will receive an elegant brooch in the shape of a seagull with a diamond eye. And yet, as a reward, everyone will receive a New Stage of the Moscow Art Theater for one day. Let them do what they want there, it should be interesting.

It was already interesting because of the fact that there was almost “one hundred percent participation” in the ceremony. Even those celebrities who were not members of the jury, nor experts, and much less young laureates attended. Svetlana Khodchenkova sat in the auditorium between two Alexanders – Petrov and Tsypkin. Petrov put his arm around her shoulders and whispered something in her ear, but then hugged Yulia Khlynina just as kindly. The couple Danila Kozlovsky and Oksana Akinshina tried to comply with all the “conspiracy rules” and asked not to be photographed, although they entered the auditorium together and sat on adjacent chairs. There was Fyodor Bondarchuk, who said into the microphone that his wife Paulina Andreeva was hiding in the gallery of the auditorium. They came: Ekaterina Shpitsa, Anna Mikhalkova, Maria Fomina, Marina Zudina, troupe of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov is almost in full force. The ceremony was attended by the director of Mosfilm Karen Shakhnazarov, the musician Yury Bashmet, the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater Svetlana Zakharova, the former Minister of Culture Mikhail Shvydkoy and many, many others… There has never been such a friendly turnout at a social event since pre-pandemic times. Much was explained when the Deputy Prime Minister for Social Policy of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Golikova, the Minister of Culture, Olga Lyubimova, and the Director of the Department of Culture of the Government of the Russian Federation, Denis Molchanov, appeared.

It immediately became clear that the new award was not the “home joys” of the Moscow Art Theater, but a serious state initiative. The solemn ceremony was opened by Tatyana Golikova. She recalled that the award of the Moscow Art Theater is part of a big holiday that we will celebrate in the fall – the 125th anniversary of the theater. And the nominees and winners are the flower of Russian culture of the new generation.
After Tatyana Golikova, the artistic director Konstantin Khabensky entered the scene.
– The Moscow Art Theater has always spoken to the audience in a modern language. It is very symbolic to give birth to a new tradition within the walls, which are saturated with traditions, – said Khabensky. – We have only 8 nominations. For some reason it so happened that the Moscow Art Theater did not get into any of them. This seemed unfair. And we have presented one more: the ninth nomination, which is called “without comments” (without comments)…

Its laureate, and indeed the first laureate of the new prize, was Stanislav Lyubshin, who will be 90 years old in a week. Stanislav Andreevich knew that he would be given a “youth” award, but in front of the microphone he briefly and theatrically said:
– For me it is very unexpected. Now I need to delete the prize…

Well, after Lyubshin, the prize was awarded to real young people, not yet so famous, but with great potential.
In the nomination “Opera” was awarded to the soloist of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater Natalia Lyaskova. In ballet – the main soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Elizaveta Kokoreva. In literature – Asya Volodina. The prize in the “Contemporary Art” nomination was not awarded to anyone. In classical music – harpist Sophia Kiprskaya. In the nomination “Contemporary Academic Music” – Roman Zhaurov. In the cinema – Elizaveta Ishchenko, the young star of the series “Alice can not wait.” Lisa came to support Anna Mikhalkova, who played her mother in the film.
In the nomination “Theatre” – “Swimmer” from the hands of Khabensky received the actress of the Theater named after the Moscow Council Anastasia Belova.
Masters gave farewell words to the young talents of the screens. Yuri Bashmet said that he will add a lot to those who work honestly. “In life you have to be active and observant,” Bashmet advised. Marina Neelova also shared her observation: “Luck is a long journey through failures. Therefore, you have to be daring, intrepid, brave and a little selfish…”.
The ceremony was short, compact, unlike other theatrical awards, and moderately informal.
