An Air Europe Boeing 787 flying from Madrid to Montevideo nearly crashed.
The plane encountered strong turbulence and the captain asked all passengers to fasten their seat belts. The plane safely passed the danger zone, people lost their vigilance and many let go. But the Boeing began to shake violently again, after which it began to lose altitude abruptly.
The turbulence was so strong that passengers who were not wearing seat belts were thrown up and down. Two people, a man and a 2-year-old child, were thrown so far that their heads went through the luggage compartment shelves. The man’s head was caught in the roof and he could not free himself without help. The child’s mother called for help: her baby was hanging from the roof and his head was going through the plastic panels.
The flight was urgently redirected to Brazil, where it landed safely.

Videos posted by passengers of the ill-fated flight immediately after landing show many of the plane’s seats covered in blood, ceiling panels destroyed, armrests broken and crockery and belongings scattered.
Meteorologists agree that the increasing incidence of severe turbulence on passenger aircraft is directly related to global warming, which determines air flows. They believe that turbulence will occur more and more frequently.
