The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case against the author of documentaries and special reports of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, Evgeniy Poddubny, for “attempted murder” and “obstruction of legitimate professional activities.”
From the statement of the official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko:
“As a result of the attack by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region on August 7, a war correspondent and author of documentaries and special reports for the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, Evgeniy Evgenievich Poddubny, was injured. Despite the fact that the media representative was not carrying a weapon and did not take part in the hostilities, the Ukrainian armed forces identified him as a legitimate target of attack.”
The office said that thanks to the prompt action of law enforcement officials, the correspondent was evacuated and taken to a medical facility. Now doctors are doing everything necessary to save his life.
And investigators from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation are taking all possible measures to identify and bring to justice those involved in the attempted murder of the journalist.
