This year, a new one is added to the historical career, which has existed at the ION since 2014 – “Applied Domestic History”. It combines the fundamentality, the modern methodology of history and the practical application of historical knowledge already within the framework of education, and this, as noted at the university, is innovative for the Russian educational market.

“There is a tendency in the country to popularize history, this is due to the systemic work carried out by both the State, dedicated to the reconstruction of monuments and museums, as well as various NGOs and individuals, opening interesting art spaces and launching multiple interdisciplinary cultural proposals. . historical facts,” says Ivan Baidakov, director of the Center for Applied History and co-author of the ION RANEPA “Applied Domestic History” program. – This is what we are responding to by transforming existing educational programs and opening new ones.

Students will have a lot of practical work: in museums, in media and popular science projects, they will be involved in the compilation and organization of exhibitions, and they will participate in the Academy’s research.

But with all the innovation, the program will maintain traditional lectures and seminars.
