According to the Kamchatka Territory Prosecutor’s Office, a Kamchatka resident was found guilty of illegally seizing a car without intent to steal (part 1 of article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, part 1 of article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). It was established that he, in a state of intoxication, noticed how the driver got out of the foreign car, leaving the engine running. The man took advantage of this, got behind the wheel and went for a ride around the city, not paying attention to the fact that the passenger was sleeping in the back seat. Losing control, he caused an accident and fled the scene.
A month later, the defendant snatched a wad of banknotes from one of the visitors of a bar in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The damage amounted to 50 thousand rubles.
The court sentenced him to two years in prison to be served in a maximum security colony.
The verdict did not enter into legal force.
