A resident of Volgograd was sentenced to two years in prison for violating traffic rules and causing the death of a person – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: July 15, 2024 Time: 18:20:44

In December 2022, a VAZ-2113 car was driving on Volgograd Metallurgov Avenue. The driver wanted to change lanes from the far left to the far right and created an emergency situation for the trolley bus.

Public transportation suddenly stopped. An 83-year-old passenger who was traveling in the cabin fell, suffering numerous injuries that caused her death instantly.

The accused, 24 years old, did not admit guilt and asked to be acquitted. But the Krasnooktyabrsky District Court of Volgograd sentenced him to two years of suspended prison with a probationary period of the same length. In addition, the convicted person is deprived of the right to drive a car for the same two years.

Both the defense and the prosecution appealed the verdict. As a result, the Volgograd Regional Court replaced the sentence with actual serving of the sentence in a penal colony.
