A teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The school was closed and no students were injured. The shooter was arrested.
The boy had a “discussion” with the teacher before he allegedly pulled the trigger on the gun, police and school officials told The Daily Press. It is unclear how the combat pistol ended up in the possession of a six-year-old boy. According to the preliminary version, he carried the weapon to school in his father’s backpack.
