According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Sakhalin Region, yesterday afternoon in the town of Nevelsk two deposits of a mixture of clay and stone occurred in the courtyard of an apartment building overlooking the Nevelsk – Shebunino regional highway. Due to the rising water level of the Kazachka River, the lower part of the village of Kolkhoznoye was flooded. In the village of Gornozavodsk, due to rainfall, the lower part of the village and several courtyards were flooded.
Elimination of the consequences of the disaster in the Nevelsk region continues. Specialized services are working on the scene, cleaning up yards and entrances. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed. To ensure the safety of people, a temporary detention center has been created. The situation is under the personal control of the Governor of the Sakhalin region, Valery Limarenko.
“Due to heavy rains, about 70 houses were flooded there. People were evacuated and one person was injured and received necessary assistance,” the head of the region said.
