“A thousand guns without oil”: what Biden promised Zelensky and if he can change the course of the special operation

During a visit to kyiv, Biden said:

The United States, along with 50 partner countries, will transfer to Ukraine more than 700 tanks, thousands of infantry fighting vehicles, a thousand artillery systems, and more than 2 million shells.

To summarize all of the above, then such a combat “iron” is enough to equip a large army with a staffing of 300-350 thousand people. If all this, of course, will be delivered to Ukraine. However, even such supplies are unlikely to radically change the course of the conflict.

The point is that all these Western arms shipments will stretch out over time: judging by the recent statements by NATO defense ministers, something will start arriving from March, something at the end of this year, and some big Shipments of heavy material promise to transfer to Kiev “within a year and a half or two.” If Western weapons begin to arrive in Ukraine in small “portions”, then, of course, they will be destroyed, as before, by the Russian army on the battlefield. Grind. During the special operation, most of the military equipment supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries has already been destroyed. But this is only one side of the question. Another (and no less important!) is how effectively the Russian army will crush Western weapons at “entry points” (on Ukraine’s border with Poland, Romania or Slovakia). If such a task can be successfully solved, then Western supplies may lose their meaning.

DIALOGUE TO THE THEME

200 billion dollars to Ukraine! Is there a limit to this?

Television presenter of the American channel Fox News:

– Taking into account what Biden promised in kyiv, we have already reached the figure of 200 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine! More and more people are asking the question: is there a limit to all this and where is it?

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby:

– I don’t know. We would like it to end right now. On terms convenient to President Zelensky. But, as our President Biden said, we will support Ukraine for as long as it takes. He wasn’t kidding.
