Netflix has released a trailer for the documentary miniseries “Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop.” It will premiere in streaming on August 9. The creators of the project promised to show “the history of music that changed the world in a broad social, racial and political landscape and, most importantly, through a female lens.”
The directors will also try to explain how black women came to dominate the charts. The video didn’t show best-selling rapper Nicki Minaj, so her fans were seriously outraged. Media suggest that the singer will continue to appear in the series, but this is not certain. In addition to Minaj’s foul, fans noted the absence of Lauryn Hill and Foxy Brown.
In four episodes, they will talk about both the pioneers of the genre and modern stars. Queen Latifah, MC Sha-Rock, Roxanne Shante, Latto, Ra Digg, Remy Ma, Coi Leray, Yo-Yo, Tierra Weck, Saweetie and others will talk about women’s contributions to the gender, which turns 50 this year.
Previously, a trailer for a documentary series about the divorce of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard appeared. The program will launch on the platform on August 16.
