The agreement was concluded between the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the resident of the Arctic zone, the company “Northern Star”. The development of unique reserves of coal anthracites (local coal was even given the name “arctic coal”) will require not only the construction of cuts and all infrastructure for mining: the project involves the production of coal concentrate from grade A in a processing plant in the area of the deposit. The shipment is planned to take place along the Northern Sea Route through the maritime terminal at the entrance to Yenisei Bay, for which a deep-water port is already being built.
At the same time, the demand for high-quality anthracite coal on the world market is not decreasing, the possibility of its export by cheap shipping makes the project economically attractive.
In addition, the contracting parties intend to build joint ties with small and medium-sized enterprises in the Krasnoyarsk Territory in order to involve them in the supply of goods and solve employment issues.
