“For the first time the government provided the regions with a subsidy for the purchase of containers for the separate accumulation of waste in 2021, such a measure of support for the regions was included in the national project “Ecology”. In two years, thanks to federal funding, the regions were able to purchase more than 150,000 containers. In total, 2 were sent to the regions, 5 billion rubles,” Abramchenko said.

In 2021-2022, 57 constituent entities of the Russian Federation purchased 153,975 containers for separate accumulation of waste, the press service specified.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that since the start of the waste management reform in 2022, 192 waste management facilities have been built in Russia. As a result, almost 5.5 million tons of waste are processed in the country and more than 19 million tons are classified.

Denis Butsaev, general director of the Russian Ecological Operator, noted that the regions actually managed to purchase 10,000 more containers than planned. “The first region was the Chechen Republic, which bought almost 7,000 containers. In terms of purchase volume, the region ranks second. And Bashkiria bought the largest number of tanks – more than 11 thousand. I want to emphasize that the subsidy allowed to the regions to buy containers for the separate collection of glass, metal, paper and plastic waste, these are all secondary resources that can be recycled into new products. Citizens who engage in separate collection make an invaluable contribution to the development of recycling waste in Russia and our country’s transition to a circular economy,” Butsaev said.
