adidas revisits its partnership with Balenciaga. Hypebae writes about this with reference to letters from clients who ordered items from the joint collection.
“We have taken a break to evaluate our partnership with Balenciaga and have decided to suspend all products until further notice. Therefore, unfortunately, we will not be able to fulfill your pre-order for Balenciaga x adidas Stan Smith sneakers,” reads one of adidas’ customer service emails.
The same customer also reserved a different sneaker on the Balenciaga website. After some time, the brand sent a message saying: “The delivery of the products will be delayed.” The user was asked to “ignore an already received notification with a tracking number inside.”
“Prior to this, the customer received Triple S sneakers from the same collection. The information came from Singapore, but the suspension is likely to affect all countries,” Sneaker Freaker wrote.
The reason for a possible review of the cooperation is the scandal surrounding the Balenciaga Gift Shop advertising campaign involving children. Both the brand and its creative director Demna Gvasalia had to apologize for posting the shoot. He was excluded from the list of nominees for the “Designer of the Year” The Fashion Awards.
