Adif Alta Velocidad has started the works for the remodeling and conditioning of the historic canopy of the Madrid-Puerta de Atocha Almudena Grandes station, as well as the reform of its accesses from the Carlos V roundabout. In the action it will invest a total of 56 .5 million euros. A part of the money will be paid for with European funds from the recovery plan.
This action will make it possible to expand and modernize the facilities in order to reinforce Atocha’s efficiency and capacity to continue responding to the increase in traffic associated with the liberalization of rail passenger transport and the entry of competition.

The execution of these works, which will be carried out by ACS through its subsidiary Dragados, will take place in different phases over some 36 months, during which the station will remain in service, guaranteeing its functionality and activity.
