Advance payment of pensions this month: When do banks pay?

Date: May 31, 2023 Time: 07:20:54

One of the big questions that millions of pensioners are asking today is when the advance payment of pensions will take place this month. And it is that, although these social benefits are usually collected at the beginning of February, there are numerous banks that choose to advance the amounts of their clients between January 25 and 28, that is, throughout the coming week. Or, in certain cases, even earlier. This is the case of CaixaBank, Santander and Bankinter, which usually do so on the 23rd of each month. In this case, Monday of next week.

On the other hand, people who have their account in Sabadell, BBVA, ING, Abanca, Liberbank, Cajamar and Unicaja, will have to wait until January 25, that is, next Wednesday. As if this were not enough, another of the great innovations that are presented for this year has to do with the revaluation of pensions for 2023, whose increases will be effective from the first month of this year. In the case of contributory pensions, that is, those paid by Social Security, they will do so at 8.5%.

In fact, this same week the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, sent a letter to a total of nine million pensioners to inform about this increase whose objective is “not to lose purchasing power” and “modernize the pension system”. On the other hand, we must not forget that for this year the amounts of the supplement will also rise to reduce the gender gap.

Thus, the supplement starts from a fixed amount of 410 euros per year per child, up to a maximum of 4 children, so it can reach up to 1,641 euros extra in the pension per year. Social Security pays it in 14 payments. On the other hand, in the case of non-contributory pensions, they will rise by up to 15%, although in this particular case, the delo collection supplement cannot be accessed to reduce the gender gap, as explained on the website of social security.

When banks advance the payment of pensions in January

From the Social Security press department they inform La Información that pensioners will begin to receive the new amounts together with the increases as of this same month of January. Therefore, retirees and pensioners will see amounts higher than those received in previous months reflected in their payrolls.

However, the payroll income varies depending on the bank, so it will be advisable to review it in the days before and after the common date of each month. From the banks they encourage customers to view it in digital applications before at ATMs to avoid crowds.
