Date: March 29, 2024 Time: 12:00:28

The board of directors of Aena has approved, in the meeting held this Monday, to elect two vice presidents of the board of directors and to adapt the corporate structure of the company to the challenges of its Strategic Plan (2022-2026), highlighting the new figure of the executive vice president, to be held by Javier Marín.

As the entity has communicated to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the figure of executive vice president is created, whose head will be Javier Marín, until now general director of Airports and executive director. He has also been elected second vice president of the board of directors.

In addition, Marín is advisor to the company’s president and delegate, Martin Lucena, and will be responsible for the direct supervision of the following areas: the two General Directorates of the company, the General Directorate of Airports and the General Commercial and Real Estate Directorate and the Innovation Directorate, Sustainability and Customer Experience. This position will also centralize part of his efforts to strengthen international positioning and promote innovation and sustainability, which are essential to complete the transformation of the company, according to Aena.

“This decision responds to the growing size of Aena and the complexity of its management in these areas and the convenience of promoting greater synergies between them”, explained Lucena. For her part, Lucena will maintain full executive functions, for which reason she will chair the board of directors, manage the relationship with the directors and will be responsible for the effective management of the company on a day-to-day basis. Regarding the changes in the board, the independent and coordinator, Jaime Terceiro Lomba, will be first vice president (non-executive); while the executive director, Javier Marín, vice president will be second, in addition to his recent position as executive vice president.
