To celebrate its 35th anniversary, and as has become a tradition, Afi has presented the book ’35 years of economy and finance in Spain’. The publication narrates the series of great economic and financial transformations that occurred during this period in the country, and includes a total of 35 contributions from experts who are or have been linked to the organization.
A project coordinated by Daniel Manzano, a partner at Afi, and which has had collaborators such as Minister Reyes Maroto, Fernando Restoy, President of the Financial Stability Institute (FSI), Gonzalo García, Secretary of State for the Economy, and Alfonso García, Vice President for Europe. and Latin America of the IFC (World Bank), among others.
The president of Afi, Borja Foncillas, opened the event which was attended by authorities, journalists and personalities from the academic and business world. The president announced that Afi has closed a record year for the organization in many settings.
“Afi today is a very different company, which currently integrates four major lines of services. The original one for analysis and consultancy, the one for investment banking separated into Corporate Finance and asset management aimed mainly at institutional clients, the one for training and the one related to technology. These last two allow us to have a larger scale thanks to digitization.”
For his part, Ángel Berges, vice president of Afi and president of the Emilio Ontiveros Foundation, announced the call for the Emilio Ontiveros Economics Award. “With it, we intend to recognize people who embody those values that Emilio always carried with him and that permeated this organization; excellence, commitment to society, financial education and entrepreneurial spirit.”
Rodrigo Buenaventura, president of the CNMV and who also participates as an author in the work, closed the event held at the Afi headquarters. In it, he shared his vision of the similarities in the history of the CNMV and Afi, the importance that both institutions attach to financial education and the fond memories they retain of their professional experience in the organization.

Not only from the School, but from all its publications.” He has also spoken about the modernization of the Spanish stock market, the weight of technology and digitization, asset management, internationalization, and regulation.
