Date: July 18, 2024 Time: 04:16:00

“The G7 leaders reached an agreement on the allocation of $50 billion to Ukraine through the use of frozen Russian assets,” RIA Novosti reports. The French presidency clarified that the payment will be made before the end of 2024.

According to the source, once an agreement is reached, specialists will work on it to ensure that “it complies with the law, government financial regulations and the financial capabilities of each other.”

It was recently reported that G7 leaders are discussing the possibility of creating a special fund in which frozen Russian assets will be accumulated. Specific proposals on this topic are planned to be discussed at the summit to be held in Italy from June 13 to 15.

Earlier, EU special envoy for sanctions David O’Sullivan said kyiv could receive the first tranche of frozen Russian assets this summer.
