Italian brand Alberta Ferretti has partnered with Sotheby’s to help rebuild the Emilia-Romagna region, which was hit hard by flooding. WWD writes about it.
The auction will take place online from July 10 to 13. The auction will sell 18 evening gowns worn by stars including Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, Amanda Seyfried and Eva Longoria on the red carpet at international events ranging from the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals to the Oscars. Proceeds will be donated to help families and businesses affected by the disaster.
“The idea for this charity auction came when I was preparing a show in Rimini and saw on the news the incredible damage caused by the flood. I immediately thought it was important to be active in fundraising to support our region. Therefore, in addition to the active participation and support of our employees, donations and the creation of sweatshirts, the proceeds of which will go to charity, I decided to organize an auction of special dresses”, said Ferretti.
Previously, Alberta Ferretti was awarded the Guido Carli Prize, economist and politician of the 20th century. The award is given to Italian entrepreneurs and artists who stand out for their skill, professionalism and dedication.
