Date: March 29, 2024 Time: 00:04:13

Actor Alec Baldwin will be sentenced for involuntary manslaughter. Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Oltvis. According to Vanity Fair, a similar charge will be brought against Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was in charge of the guns on the set of Rust.

Term will avoid the film’s assistant director Dave Halls. According to sheriff’s reports, he told the film crew that he was a knife. Halls signed a plea agreement and got out with a suspended sentence.

“If one of these three people, Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reid or David Halls, had done their job, Galina Hutchins would be alive today. It’s so simple. The evidence clearly shows a criminal disregard for security on the set of Rust,” the prosecutor said in a statement.

Baldwin’s lawyer, Luke Nikas, said: “This decision misrepresents the tragic death of Galina Hutchins and represents a terrible miscarriage of justice. There was no reason for Mr. Baldwin to believe there was a live bullet in the gun or any other place of the set”.

In the state of New Mexico, manslaughter is a Level 4 (lowest) felony. You are subject to imprisonment for up to 18 months or a fine of up to $5,000.
