Alex Gibney to release documentary on musician Paul Simon

Date: December 8, 2023 Time: 12:26:02

The American documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney will release a film about the rock musician and winner of three Grammy Awards Paul Simon. He is best known for the duo Simon and Garfunkel. The tape will be called “In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon.” Deadline reports.

The film tells about the career of the artist and the creation of his album “Seven Psalms”. While working on the record, Simon explored questions of faith and mortality as he survived a global pandemic and his own hearing loss. In the film, Gibney and Simon will travel through the dream world of the storytelling, moving freely between past and present to create a comprehensive portrait of the musician.

In addition to Simon himself, musicians Graceland, Wynton Marsalis, Lorne Michaels and Paul’s wife, Edie Brickell, will appear on the screen. According to the creators of the tape, their participation will leave a full impression of Simon as a person and an artist.

“In early 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, Paul invited me to film him recording his latest album, Seven Psalms. Paul was losing hearing in one ear and it was a terrible time. The tribulations of him making the album about faith and mortality are the emotional foundation of this story,” Gibney said.

It was previously reported that Gibney will be releasing a documentary on Elon Musk. If the businessman himself takes part in the filming, the director does not specify. We talk about it in more detail here.
