At first glance a low-key but highly interesting regional fashion week, Alta Roma, until a few years ago, focused on haute couture. Hence its historical name Alta, the Italian equivalent of French Haute Couture. But ever since Valentino, the week’s main flagship in the old days, started walking in Paris and taking over his headquarters on Place Vendôme, Roman fashion week has started to lose its haute couture past. . Today it is about young Italian designers with brilliant ideas and the elegant quality of Made in Italy fabrics.
In the summer, Vogue Italia presents the prestigious Who Is On Next award to aspiring couturiers as part of its framework. Last year’s winners, Setchu and Mokoo, literally showed their collections in January.
