Citizens considering that the recent increase in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage by 8%, up to 1,080 euros per month, will have a positive effect on the country’s economic recovery and job creation, according to a survey conducted by the DYM Institute for Information . Specifically, 47.3% believe that the increase is good for recovery, while 38.5% believe that the measure will help increase jobs. According to the data, these ideas have more force in the sector of the left – voters of the PSOE and Unidas Podemos -. For their part, right-wing voters are more negative with respect to the economic impact that the rise in the SMI will have.

Faced with the decision of Antonio Garamendi, president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), not to attend the table to negotiate the rise of the SMI together with Yolanda Díaz, UGT and CCOO on January 31, more than half of the population has branded his position as wrong. 57.4% disagree with his absence, while 20.5% support the position taken by the president. To this is added that almost 42% of the population considers it negative that the measure has gone ahead without the support of the CEOE, although more than 34% consider this event positive, especially among the left.

As the DYM institute survey shows, citizens show great interest, first of all, in the health situation – specifically, 89% of the 1,003 respondents -. The second sector in which great interest is shown is inflation, which in January stood at 5.9%. And, thirdly, education also occupies a relevant position among the concerns of the Spanish. However, while the socialist voters stand out within the percentage interested in healthcare, those of the PP show particular interest in taxes, the serious crimes of embezzlement and sedition, the war in Ukraine and the independence process in Catalonia.

Regarding Health, the majority of those surveyed state that the public service has worsened in recent years. This idea has permeated all sectors of voters. However, he stands out in the decisive PSOE and UP. In this way, the statistical results confront the statements of the president of the Community of Madrid Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who branded the regional demonstrations to request health improvements from a political movement. “They seek to deteriorate the image of the public health system” and health in Madrid “is not bad,” said the president. However, more than half of the population believes that the purpose of the strikes is really to denounce the public health situation. Only 24.5% believe that these mobilizations have a partisan nature, among them voters of the PP and Vox stand out.

One last conclusion that the survey launches regarding this issue is that society does not opt for choosing a culprit regarding the worsening of the health service that the majority declares. On the one hand, 33.5% of society considers that the sector is the responsibility of the regional government, while 31.3% thinks that it is the responsibility of the national government. Faced with these figures, 29.9% of citizens share the blame between both institutions.
