Amazon is working on a film adaptation of the series based on the Tomb Raider computer game, which tells the adventures of a girl archaeologist, Lara Croft. The script will be written by British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who rose to fame thanks to the television series Fleabag (originally Fleabag). The Hollywood Reporter writes about it.
Now the project is in development. Waller-Bridge will not be involved in filming, but will produce the show with Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt.
Tomb Raider has been filmed several times. In 2001, the film “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” was released with Angelina Jolie in the main role. A sequel appeared in 2003, subtitled The Cradle of Life. The story was retconned in 2018, then Alicia Vikander played Croft. Many fans met the last image with disapproval, the actress was criticized for “not having a sexy enough appearance.”
Disney previously revealed the first character image of Phoebe Waller-Bridge from the upcoming film Indiana Jones 5. Waller-Bridge played the goddaughter of the protagonist, Indiana Jones, again played by Harrison Ford. The heroine’s name is Helen, and according to the actress, “she is a mystery and a miracle.”
