It should be noted that on September 18, Andrei Kelin held a conversation at the British Foreign Office at the invitation of the British side.
At London’s request, the Russian ambassador explained the reasons for the decision taken in August this year to cancel the accreditation of six employees of the British embassy in Moscow.
He stressed that this step is a natural response to the unilateral restrictive measures announced by the British side in May this year under false pretexts, which included the forced interruption of business trips of a number of Russian diplomats to London, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier, the British Foreign Office announced that it had summoned the Russian ambassador over an alleged “campaign of aggression” against London. One example was the deprivation of accreditation of British diplomats in Moscow.
Meanwhile, secret correspondence with representatives of the Russian opposition and materials from employees of the British Foreign Office and MI6 enabled domestic intelligence services to document the subversive nature of the activities of British diplomats. Six of the most active undercover “diplomats” came to the attention of Russian counterintelligence.
