Host of conservative Blaze Media’s Prime Time channel Alex Stein tweeted (blocked in Russia) about his meeting with the WNBA star. “I just met my favorite WNBA player. Video coming soon,” said the Dallas native and self-proclaimed troll known for her scathing confrontations with politicians. She later also posted a short clip of him yelling at Greiner as she walked through the airport, according to National Public Radio. “Do you still want to boycott America, Brittney?” she screams, adding, “She hates America.”
Greiner was sentenced to 9.5 years in a Russian prison after pleading guilty to importing cannabis oil e-cigarette cartridges into Russia. She was released in December in exchange for Russian businessman Viktor Bout and returned to the United States.
Greiner is allowed to use charter flights to travel to the games for security reasons. The Mercury players were flying to Indianapolis on a commercial flight, according to his agent. It is not clear why Greiner did not fly on a chartered flight.
Greiner’s teammate, Brianna Turner, said team members were “nervously huddled in a corner, not knowing how to act” during the incident.
