An exhibition in memory of Vyacheslav Zaitsev was organized in Yaroslavl – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The most famous Russian fashion designer died a year ago, on April 30. And his colleagues from Yaroslavl, many of whom the couturier helped to grow professionally and appear on Russian and world catwalks, wanted to express their gratitude to the master of fashion. 11 artists presented their products, sketches and photographs at exhibitions. Here are Zaitsev’s autographs: his letters and wishes to his colleagues, clothing models made by the Moscow Fashion House “Slava Zaitsev” in the late 90s and early 2000s, his famous headdress – a bowler hat, bottles of perfume, on the creation of which the designer also worked: both on the bottles and on the fragrances.

According to the organizers of the exhibition, in order to give talented and promising fashion designers of the regions the opportunity to express themselves, on the initiative of Vyacheslav Zaitsev, industrial competitions began to be held in many Russian cities. The first such competition was held in Yaroslavl in 1995 and since then the couturier has repeatedly visited both the regional center and Rybinsk.

– Vyacheslav Mikhailovich received 57 awards throughout his life. And among them, number 26, is the honorary insignia of the city of Yaroslavl. Therefore, it was decided to hold an exhibition in the museum of our city. This is our gratitude to the master for his attention, warmth and participation in our work, ”said one of the promoters and collectors of the exhibition, fashion designer and former main artist of the Yaroslavl Fashion House, Natalya Gorbacheva.

And Rybinsk fashion designer Irina Kazak, laureate and graduate of Russian and international fashion competitions, remembers that she has known the Ivanovo nugget since the early 80s, when she opened her fashion house on Mira Avenue.

– I came to see. After all, where did we see anything? Mainly in the magazine “Rabotnitsa”. We didn’t have fashion, like sex. And then I walked into the room, and I wasn’t old at all then. And suddenly Slava comes out, young, with shaved hair and hugging a mannequin. Smiling, happy, like with a flag. And the mannequin was wearing a long black coat trimmed with velvet. His theme then was this. He apparently caught my admiring look and asked, “Do you want to try it on?” I tried it on and we started talking in his office over a cup of coffee. Then this coat became mine: I bought it at a big discount,” says Irina Georgievna, who became both a colleague and friend of the future “red Dior.”

The couturier’s colleagues wanted to express their gratitude to the master of fashion

And when she started sewing hats for clients in the capital, Zaitsev allowed her to use his fashion house as an office. He even joked, “Well, Irishka Kazak surrounded our entire mayor’s office.” Much later, he also readily acceded to her request to come to Rybinsk to show her collections, explaining that he might have rejected anyone else, but would come to her because she was a hard worker.

– I approached him and said: Vyacheslav Mikhailovich, I would like this topic, this one and this one… And he brought everything! From the stage in Rybinsk he later said: “I brought everything, but in such quantities I only showed the collections to Prince Albert in Monaco and the Queen of England. I mean, he, of course, was amazing in this regard. very warm and reverent towards people who plow and who have done something in life.

Natalya Gorbacheva, fashion designer:

– I am very happy that my colleagues responded and came. Because this exhibition also has an educational nature. After all, a whole generation of young people has grown up who have no idea about the work of local fashion designers and do not know anything about it. And perhaps the exhibition will interest some of the young people who are trying themselves in this business today and will become an impulse that one day we will have our own Vyacheslav Zaitsev and grow.
