On October 10, an exhibition dedicated to Scottish photographer Albert Watson will open at the Lumiere Gallery. The project will occupy a space on Bolshaya Polyanka and present a wide sample of the author’s creativity from the late 20th and early 21st centuries, including iconic photographs of stars such as Alfred Hitchcock, Kate Moss, Uma Thurman, Michael Jackson and others.
The exhibition will include 16 of Watson’s most famous prints, both commissioned and his own projects. Among the fashion photography images are works for the brands Vivienne Westwood, Lanvin, Issey Miyake. The exhibition also includes experimental footage inspired by plastic research.
Especially for the Lumiere Gallery project, a work from Michael Jackson’s private collection in New York will be presented, the creation of which was timed to coincide with the release of the album “Invincible” and Michael Jackson’s concert tour in 1999. The exhibition at the Lumiere Gallery will be Albert Watson’s fourth project in Russia, after successful retrospectives in 2015 and 2019, presented as part of the Moscow Biennale “Fashion and Style in Photography”.
It was previously known that the Sotheby’s auction house was having financial problems. It may close soon. We talk in more detail here.
