An incident in Dazn leaves Movistar and Orange customers without watching football

Date: March 29, 2024 Time: 17:24:25

An incident registered on Sunday in Dazn meant that Movistar and Orange customers were unable to activate new accounts to enter the platform’s application and watch soccer matches, just the weekend that the operators stopped issuing them through of their respective applications.

Dazn stopped broadcasting LaLiga football matches through the Movistar and Orange TV applications since Saturday, so the clients of these operators had to follow these matches again through the application of the British sports platform for streaming.

However, Movistar and Orange customers who did not have a Dazn account previously activated cannot watch the game scheduled for this Sunday (Athletic Bilbao-Real Madrid) on their mobile devices, tablets, computers and television as they cannot enter the Dazn application since it could not create its user, according to what several sources have informed EFE.

The operators had been recording the need for customers to activate Dazn accounts for weeks if they wanted to continue watching the games on this platform through the application on the different devices without the operator’s decoder. The problems began right at the start of the game and have already been solved, according to EFE sources from Dazn, who have not entered to assess the scope of the incident while waiting to gather more information.

The operators began to broadcast this sport through their respective applications after the technical errors that Dazn experienced in the first days of LaLiga and after the complaints received from users.

This weekend, Dazn put an end to this circumstance and returned to offer the matches from his application. This measure affected those who enjoy football through the MovistarPlus and Orange TV applications and not those who use the decoder, since the Dazn LaLiga channels do remain on the decoders of the operators.

Telefónica and Dazn were awarded in December the audiovisual rights of LaLiga Santander for the next five seasons (2022-2027) for 4,950 million euros. Telefónica (Movistar) acquired 5 games per day plus 3 full days, while Dazn 5 games per day. Orange offers soccer after sending agreements with the Spanish operator and with the sports platform.
