The most famous scammer of the nineties, the founder of the infamous MMM financial pyramid, Sergey Mavrodi, is now unlikely to confirm that he had an illegitimate child. Having gone to the other world in 2018 and depriving, according to some estimates, up to 17 million people of his savings, Mavrodi never said anything about his children on the sidelines; there is no mention of them in various kinds of encyclopedias.
All this, however, did not stop Maxim Mernes from declaring that it was Sergei Mavrodi who exchanged the luxurious offices of MMM for prison bunk beds, the office of a State Duma deputy for a folding bed in a rented apartment and died at a stop. of bus. .
The other day information came from Thailand that Maxim Mernes was stabbed to death in prison.
father case
The collapse of MMM and other financial pyramid schemes has taught some gullible Russians nothing. In addition, many scammers today cleverly decorate their criminal intentions with beautiful terms, calling not to exchange, as Mavrodi did, cash for candy wrappers, but to invest in cryptocurrency, promising incredible profits.
Maxim Mernes represented a new generation of “crypto magnates”. At first, he said that he once bought some bitcoins at a low price, which brought him a lot of money, then he himself began to offer everyone who wanted to earn money on cryptocurrencies.
For the past few years, he has lived in Thailand, from where he ran his YouTube channel, delivering interviews and posting glowing articles about his successful business activities along the way. He also loved to post photos on social networks that testify to the luxurious life of him.

inevitable collapse
Beautiful landscapes, expensive things, luxury cars and guarantees of an easy life on paradise islands continue to work magically on people who have spent their hard-earned money on the crypto business of his illegitimate son Mavrodi.
But Mernes’s troubles still started. And then she gave an interview to one of the Ukrainian journalists. Dmitry Gordon in Russia is included in the list of extremists and is included in the federal list of wanted persons in criminal cases. He began his career by advertising fortune telling services as well as the useless “Yu-Shinse’s golden pyramids”, calling them a patented medical device and ingenious invention.
Gordon rarely met with Mernes on a pro bono basis: the vain cryptocurrency dealer closely followed the press releases and made no secret of always paying for positive information about himself.
checkered sky
Shortly after meeting Gordon, Mernes was allegedly first attacked by unknown criminals, then suddenly ended up in a hospital and a little later in a Thai prison.
All this somehow repeated the chain of the final episodes in the life of Sergei Mavrodi, who also once complained that in order to pay for the work of the lawyers who defended him, he had to turn to all those who were not indifferent in seek help.
So Mernes, once in jail, appealed for immediate help with cash, otherwise he would spend the next five years behind bars “on trumped up charges.”
In January 2022, a photo taken in a hospital bed appeared on his page. The caption read: “Maxim received a head injury in prison and as a result of complications after COVID-19, he is in hospital.” Mernes himself addressed subscribers with such calls: “Raise everyone! This chaos will never end! I will be in jail illegally.”
He also posted the phone number of the person his lawyer called. Alexander Parfyonov refused to communicate with KP.
unconfirmed death
And so, last weekend, acquaintances of Mernes reported that he had been stabbed to death in a Thai prison. According to some reports, it all happened because of a sudden confrontation with the cellmates. According to others, the killer was hired by desperate investors to return the money invested in the Mernes crypto pyramids.
There is no mention of Mernes’ arrest in the Thai press. His name is also not on the list of foreigners serving prison terms in Thailand. “KP” also contacted the embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangkok, where they refused to give an explanation about the fate of the Russian citizen.

in the footsteps of the father
Remembering how Mikhail Mavrodi often hid from angry investors, many suspected that Mernes, having squandered other people’s money, also decided to disappear, arrange hospitalization, imprisonment and even his own death.
This version is supported by a conversation with Russian journalists from a certain Nikolai, who calls himself Mernes’s assistant. “This is all incorrect information. He is more than alive. I am his assistant… At the moment he is not in contact, he had problems… He raised some points, ”Gazeta.ru quotes a fragment of the interview.
A greedy man doesn’t need a knife
The precepts of Mavrodi and his illegitimate son, long before the birth of cryptocurrencies, were described in his song by Bulat Okudzhava: “as long as there are fools in the world, we must live by deceit, therefore, by our hands. ” And in the same Thailand, and not only in it, the clones of the fox Alice and the cat Basil, who sang with might and main in the film fairy tale about Pinocchio, will continue to actively operate. In Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Koh Samui, which only recently opened up for Russian tourists after the coronavirus pandemic, almost every pole is plastered with the same type of flyers. Everyone is offered “profitable” money transfers from Russia to Thailand through some crypto exchanges.
The technology of scammers is outrageously simple and not connected with any exchange: a gullible fool is offered to transfer large sums in rubles to the account indicated by scammers, after which they promise to send a bunch of Thai banknotes by courier “very soon”. ”. In fairness, it must be said that the couriers really reached some people and even brought some money, which was enough for exactly a couple of bottles of water.
