“The life of two human beings, the language of problems, the language of a man and a woman, which I would say was written with Tolstoian force by the great playwright and director Ingmar Bergman. We tried to tell not only about the personal, but also about what had such an effect on them and on us, on people, on the inhabitants of the Soviet Union, ”the director told reporters before the premiere.

Konchalovsky transferred the action of the film to Russia during perestroika. At the center of the story is a married couple and their relationship, which has changed over the course of 20 years. The main role is played by actress Yulia Vysotskaya. Her partner is Alexei Rozin, who played the main role in Konchalovsky’s play The Taming of the Shrew and Andrey Zvyagintsev’s film Loveless. The next screening after the premiere will take place on March 11.

The set design uses real interior items from the late 1980s. However, the actors emphasized that the story that will unfold in front of the audience can take place in any historical era and in any place.

Previously, Yuri Muravitsky left the post of chief director of the Taganka Theater. His decision was deliberate and voluntary. Read more here.
