At the WWDC developer conference in early June, Apple finally unveiled the Vision Pro, its first mixed reality headset. The main claim for the headphones was their high cost. Approximately it will go on sale at a price of $ 3499 (this is about 290 thousand rubles).
Therefore, the company is currently preparing to launch a more affordable headset. It could go on sale by the end of 2025. The device may be called Apple Vision or Apple Vision One.
In the initial version of Vision Pro, the most expensive components are the M2 and R1 chips, two 4K LED micro displays, and camera and sensor hardware. To cut costs, Apple is likely to use lower-quality displays, a lower-spec processor, and a smaller range of cameras and sensors.
Alternatively, the company could ditch the headphones’ spatial audio speakers and instead push users to use their own AirPods Pro. However, there are a few points Apple is unlikely to compromise on. This includes an external display, known as EyeSight, which shows the user’s eyes, as well as eye and hand tracking systems.
Earlier it became known that starting with the iOS 17 update on Apple devices, it will be possible to download applications from third-party online stores, and not just from the App Store. We talk about it in more detail here.
