Apple’s mixed reality (MR) headset will be called Reality Pro and will support gaze and gesture control. Noted whistleblower Mark Gurman announced this in his new material for Bloomberg.
Gurman claims that Apple has been working on an MR helmet for more than seven years. During all this time, more than 1,000 people were permanently involved in the project. According to the journalist, for a long time the developers have created something that seems new and interesting.
The main feature of the novelty is support for eye control. You can select the desired app icon in the 3D version of the iOS-like interface just by looking at it. You can confirm the launch of the selected application or any other action by putting your thumb and forefinger together.
At the same time, Reality Pro will receive an analogue of the Apple Watch Digital Crown button, which is responsible for switching between VR and AR. When AR is activated, the external cameras of the device are activated. Their image is displayed on high-resolution Sony monitors built into the fixture.
According to the informant, the novelty will be on sale at the end of 2023. It will cost about 3 thousand dollars (about 206 thousand rubles). The device is the company’s first new product since the launch of the Apple Watch in 2015.
Earlier, Apple introduced the second generation HomePod. The new model is made of mesh fabric made from 100% recycled material. We talk about it in more detail here.
