Aragones warns the government about espionage: “Don’t put us to the test.”

Notifications without a complete break with the central government. The President of the Generalitat, Father Aragones, spoke this Saturday about the case of political espionage against the Catalan Independents and, aware of the weight of his party in government, he warned the central executive: “Do not put us to the test.” .

This Saturday, Aragones traveled to Girona to present Kim Ayats as the candidate of his party, the ERC, for mayor of that city, and took the opportunity to demand more explanations from the executive branch and declassification of the espionage documents. All this while the meeting of the presidents to resolve the espionage crisis continues without a date.

“If anyone thinks that by firing the director of CNI – regarding Paz Esteban – they will try to turn the page of this case with this smokescreen, they are absolutely wrong,” Argones said, according to EFE.

“That they didn’t put us to the test, when they put us to the test, they saw what happened,” stressed the President of Catalonia, one of 18 spies recognized by the CNI in Parliament.

For Aragones, rights and freedoms are “in danger” and that they are “before a state that does not respect them and systematically violates them.” The espionage case, according to the president, is “the most unjustified, the most serious and scandalous in recent decades.”

Moreover, now Aragones is waiting for “the greatest intoxication in recent months”, because, according to the president, the state “will try to justify the unjustified and invent what they must invent.” “We will defend the freedom of Catalonia, even if they spy on us, force us to leave the country and put us in jail,” he added.

The situation he describes is that of “a state that, while defending self-determination, amnesty with all democratic conviction regarding institutions and the mobilization of citizens, considers them a “threat.” Father Aragones understands that instead of being “proud” of his position, he should be “ashamed to think that democracy is a threat.”

Illa asks Aragones to rule

For his part, PSC first secretary and opposition leader in Catalonia, Salvador Illa, asked Aragonés to “govern” after a year of “fighting” in a coalition government between the ERC and the Junts, and he returned to extend the hand of the Republicans for approving reform of the language policy law after the party’s retreat Puigdemont.

Speaking to the media from Llinars del Vallès (Barcelona), Ylla insisted that the PSC “is a reliable party”. “What we have signed, we are fulfilling, and in this matter we continue with outstretched hands, but I ask Mr. Aragones to manage,” he said.

Regarding the spy crisis, Ylla reiterated that the PSC is “committed” to finding out the facts, but stressed that the government ensured it never acted outside the law.
