Arctic Monkeys and Guns N’ Roses will headline the Glastonbury Music Festival this year. They will join Elton John, whose participation was announced in December. His performance will be the final leg of the singer’s farewell world tour. Variety writes about it.
The festival will take place June 21-25 at Somerset’s Worthy Farm. Arctic Monkeys will open on Friday night and Guns N’ Roses will play on Saturday.
This choice of musicians caused outrage: all the headliners are white men. For example, the president of the British Independent Music Association, Nadia White, wrote on Twitter: “Glastonbury can easily give a place to a group of underrepresented artists to be part of the necessary changes in the industry.”
