According to the organizers, the seventh forum returns to the standard format, with a competition and an invited jury. Winners will be determined in four categories: feature film, documentary and short films; a separate category will include films for children and young people. The media jury will also evaluate the documentary works. The main program of the Arctic Open will take place from December 7 to 10. Like last year, a month before the December screenings, “Arctic open – for children” will take place in Arkhangelsk. During the autumn school holidays, from November 1 to 4, cinemas await young viewers to see and discuss the latest cinematographic novelties.
The jury of the competition show “Open Arctic for Children” will be headed by Tatyana Kiseleva, director and creative producer of the animated series “Umka”, animator of the studio “Soyuzmultfilm”. Directors, film producers of competitive and out of competition shows, young actors and their parents will participate in creative encounters with the audience.
The out-of-competition program of the screening of children’s films will acquaint viewers with the film “The underwater world of white whales. Immersion in virtual reality” directed by Vladimir Marin. He travels to the bottom of the White Sea and returns to the audience with virtual reality glasses.
Family viewing of cartoons will take place at a retrospective show dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the head of the Soyuzmultfilm film studio Inessa Kovalevskaya, author of the first Soviet cartoon musical The Bremen Town Musicians. In total, Kovalevskaya shot about 30 cartoons, among them: “Katerok”, “In the port”, “Scarecrow-Meow”, “The story of the Pope and his worker Balda from him.” Several generations know the songs of these works by heart. These musical compositions will be performed by children’s musical groups at the “MultiPort” concert.
Arctic Open Film Festival will give viewers the opportunity not only to see the latest innovations in the film industry, but also to communicate with their creators, figures of Russian and foreign cinema, and to participate in educational, commercial and cultural programs.
