Ardian acquires 200 MW portfolio of renewable energy assets in Italy

Date: September 28, 2023 Time: 01:23:09

Ardian acquires a portfolio of 200 MW of renewable energy assets in Italy. The firm announced this Thursday the acquisition of the entirety of ICQ Holding, a diversified portfolio of renewable energy assets in southern Italy, for an import that has not been disclosed.

The entity has explained through a press release that the operation has been carried out through its fund ‘Ardian Clean Energy Evergreen Fund (ACEEF)’, while the asset portfolio consists of 109 megawatts (MW) in operation, which include six wind farms, two hydroelectric projects and two biogas plants; in addition to a portfolio of 89 MW wind projects in development.

Through the aforementioned fund, Ardian acquired a minority stake in ICQ in July 2022, and has now become the sole owner of the renewable energy platform following the acquisition of the remaining stake of Italian Renewable Resource, while both operations were backed by the firm’s asset management platform in Italy (Energy Management Services).

The Italian portfolio of the ‘ACEEF’ fund now has around 500 MW of wind, solar, hydroelectric and biogas assets, also including Mirto Holding, which is a 100 MW solar portfolio acquired in July of last year.

The fund, which was launched at the beginning of 2022 and its collection reached 1,000 million euros at the end of last July, “commits” to carrying out operations with an environmental objective that is subject to what is described in article 9 (with explicit sustainability objectives) of the SFDR regulation of the European Union (EU), the Ardian statement added.
