There are various signs: dryness and tightness immediately after washing with water, peeling in some areas, rashes are also possible, loss of the usual complexion and elasticity, the appearance of mimic fine wrinkles. In people with oily skin, on the contrary, excessive shine in problem areas, a more active manifestation of enlarged pores, and also peeling of individual areas is possible.
The reasons may come from within: for example, a violation of the ion and electrolyte balance, hormonal failure, excessive consumption of alcohol, nicotine or caffeine, lack of vitamins due to improper diet, skin care products and cleansing incorrectly selected skin, stress . But there are also external ones: for example, in winter, the skin dries out especially in hot and cold rooms.
In cold and windy weather, the sebaceous glands begin to produce less subcutaneous fat, which, unlike in heated rooms with dry air, alters the hydrolipidic balance and the skin’s protective barrier. Hence the deterioration in frosty weather.
I recommend adding intensive moisturizing serum and toner to the care, if you preferred to do without them before. Try expanding on your standard set of concentrated hydrating masks; don’t be lazy and use them up to three times a week.
In skin care, it’s important to follow the sequence. To remove your makeup, use milk or micellar water (make sure to rinse afterwards, even if the package says otherwise). Then wash your face with a mild gel or cream, apply a little toner on a cotton pad and rub the skin, then moisturize it with the serum and cream that suits your type.
Look for creams that contain dexpanthenol, glycerin, sorbitol, glycols, hyaluronic acid, amino acids, urea, and AHAs. These components will help retain moisture and protect the skin from aggressive environmental influences.
With dehydrated skin, it is better to abandon cosmetics with a high content of active acids and surfactants. And for a while, do not do mechanical peels and other aggressive procedures.
Injection procedures are most effective in coping with dehydration of the skin: mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid preparations with amino acids, biorevitalization and PRP therapy.
Try adding fatty fish such as mackerel, salmon, or trout to your diet, as well as olive oil, flaxseeds, and nuts. Rich in saturated fatty acids, these foods help the skin maintain its elasticity.
