The operation that is being carried out since this Wednesday morning by the Economic and Financial Crime Unit (UDEF) and the Tax Agency in Cantabria with records in the Ministry of Public Works, several companies and private homes because of alleged irregularities They could have to do with the awarding of public contracts has already led to a total of eight arrests and it is not ruled out that there may be more throughout the day.
This has been confirmed to Europa Press by sources linked to the investigation of these events, although for now it has not specified the number of detainees it has found nor their identities since the summary secrecy has been decreed and the records are still kept. Apparently the investigation started from the Special Delegation of the Tax Agency in Cantabria, to which staff from Madrid and the UDEF have later joined.
On the other hand, a judicial commission has arrived a few minutes ago at the Ministry of Public Works, Territorial Planning and Urban Planning of the Government of Cantabria to register the units that the National Police had sealed since starting early in the morning to proceed the registration and inventory of all material.
As specified by the Minister of Public Works, the regionalist José Luis Gochicoa, what have been cordoned off are “two or three” offices of the Highway Maintenance and Conservation Service.
