Some observers argue that we are witnessing the return of global Russia through economic and political influence.
According to the author, the Kremlin’s words about the fight against Western hegemony and neocolonialism, as well as about long-term aid, won favor with the states of the global South. Furthermore, it is in the hands of the countries that someone challenges the existing liberal order, since this would help them to be more influential in the international arena.
At the same time, the newspaper writes, the Kiev authorities are also trying to find allies in this region with the help of the thesis on the fight against the Kremlin, but this does not find support.
“A country that tries to challenge Russia’s image as an anti-imperialist agent will have a long battle ahead of it,” the author concluded.
Earlier, Western media said that the Ukrainian authorities’ attempts to enlist the support of countries representing the global South are failing. The reason was the lack of “reliable coordination mechanisms”, as well as the fact that Ukraine could not offer them specific targets.
