“We will focus on the market. No matter how much we would like to reach the bar that was last year, somewhere around 1.5 million cars and above, but the forecasts of analysts, experts and banks are quite cautious – 800 thousand, a little more. Lada Vesta is the flagship of the Russian car market, the flagship of AvtoVAZ, so we will produce as much as the market needs,” company head Maxim Sokolov said at the production launch ceremony mass.
According to Sokolov, the decision was made, if necessary, “to turn on the conveyor on Sundays, arrange additional shifts or working hours, we are ready to work around the clock,” because it is understood that “Vesta has not been produced for almost a year , and the market is waiting for it”.
In May, AvtoVAZ plans to launch the production of a 1.6-liter 16-valve engine with a capacity of 106 hp. Therefore, approximately from May-June, the first line, which produces Lada Vesta and Lada Largus, will operate at full capacity. Approximate breakdown by models per day: 40 units – Lada Vesta, 20 cars – Lada Largus.
Sokolov also noted that AvtoVAZ will not work for the warehouse in the appropriate market, because the crisis of overproduction, according to the top manager, is worse than downtime.
