In the city of Glasgow, located in Scotland, the first individual exhibition of the street artist Banksy in the last 14 years will open on June 17. The exhibition will be presented at the Gallery of Modern Art. TASS reports it.
The exhibition will include author’s copies of graffiti created by Banksy in the 21st century. The artist used stencils to create copies, with the help of which he also painted the originals. Works on display include the Kissing Coppers graffiti depicting police officers kissing and the Mobile Lovers mural. The exhibition will also feature stencils of famous works.
The artist said he previously hid the stencils so they wouldn’t become material evidence when accused of damaging property. “Now I exhibit them in an art gallery as independent works of art. I honestly don’t understand which of these is the biggest crime,” Banksy said.
Recently, a new work by British street artist Banksy, which he unveiled for Valentine’s Day, moved to the city’s Dreamland amusement park in Margate. The movement was forced: the composition of the art object was violated several times. Read more here.
