The Investigative Committee of Russia held a college meeting, at which the results of the department’s work in 2022 were discussed and the tasks for the current year were set.
During the college, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee positively highlighted the work of employees, including those operating in the zone of special military operations, in the investigation of the crimes of the Kiev regime: “Since 2014, 2,608 have already been initiated. cases. Among its defendants are members of the military and political leadership of Ukraine, nationalist associations, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies. The investigation of 138 such criminal cases has already been completed. 403 people participated as defendants, 188 of them personally. Among the accused are 118 people from among the commanders and leaders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. 136 defendants were arrested in absentia.”
He also noted that ongoing investigations “must be brought to their logical conclusion, to compile an indisputable evidence base, to bring all war criminals, neo-Nazis, to justice.”
“Each of them must suffer a just punishment,” stressed the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The participants of the event honored the memory of the current and former employees of the Investigative Committee who died in the Donbass in the line of duty and civic duty with a minute of silence”.
Based on the results of the college, Bastrykin instructed his subordinates to ensure the effectiveness of identifying and investigating the facts of embezzlement of budget funds, crime among migrants, to strengthen the set of measures aimed at combating crimes against socially vulnerable categories of citizens. and prevent destructive behavior of minors.

During the last year, investigators have sent almost 89,000 criminal cases to court, of which 10,000 are about corruption, 9% more than in 2021, as well as more than 18,000 cases of economic crimes. At the same time, 418 people with special legal status were involved in corruption offences. In addition, in close collaboration with the FSB and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, 6,110 crimes from previous years were discovered, including 903 murders. Measures have been taken to curb abuses in the implementation of national projects: 634 criminal cases have been initiated, 297 have already been brought to court.
