Another sex scandal is smoldering in the UK. The famous TV presenter Hugh Edwards is involved in it.
The first reports about the upcoming “hurricane” appeared in early July, when The Sun newspaper published an article: allegedly one of the BBC’s star presenters is accused of paying more than 35 thousand pounds sterling (4.1 million rubles ) to a teenager (and gender not indicated) for candid photos and videos. Such a vicious relationship with a minor lasted for more than three years and started when the victim was seventeen years old.
All this depravity was revealed after the mother of the teenager wrote a statement to the police, claiming that the money received went to drugs, as a result of which her son became addicted.
At the same time, in the publication of The Sun, the name of the BBC television star was not reported, but the mother claimed that such a face was familiar to millions. At the same time, the corrupter did not even hide, he sent money from the official bank account and even sent photos of the teenager from his workplace.
And finally, Edwards’ wife admitted that he is now the suspect in a high-profile case. In addition, the BBC itself was told that three company employees have also complained about Edwards, with one claiming that the TV star sent “unwanted” and “flirty” messages to colleagues that caused them “discomfort”.
For all that, the police, who began looking into the charges against Edwards, found no evidence of his guilt and said they could take no action against the man.
The public scandal had a negative impact on the presenter’s health. As a result, according to her wife, the TV star is now in the hospital due to “serious mental health issues.” This is not surprising given that she has been treated for depression in recent years.
Edwards is one of the UK’s most famous television presenters and has been with the BBC for almost 40 years. During this time, he hosted many major television shows, including the company’s top newscasts. In addition, Edwards was the highest paid leader in the corporation, receiving 410 thousand pounds sterling (48.3 million rubles) per year.
This is not the first scandal involving BBC television presenters. As KP wrote, James Savile, presenter of the children’s program Jim’ll Fix It, was declared by Scotland Yard as one of the worst manic pedophiles in UK history. He was accused of committing at least 450 attacks on girls and women between the ages of 8 and 47 in the 60 years of his life. Also, many rapes were committed right in the center of London television. The police concluded that Savile committed crimes even before becoming famous. But then the glory that came to him helped to go unpunished.
