More than 3.2 million copies of Prince Harry’s memoir have been sold worldwide.

Penguin Random House has officially confirmed that British Prince Harry’s autobiographical book, Spare, sold 1.4 million copies in the US on its first day of sale. more than any of the Harry Potter books. True, if we talk about the scale of the entire planet, then the record of the “mother” of the young wizard, the writer JK Rowling, has not yet been beaten by anyone: in 2007, her book “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ” was sold in the first 24 hours of sales worldwide in the amount of 10 million copies.
As of the end of last week, more than 3.2 million copies of “Spare” had been sold worldwide in 16 foreign languages and in four versions: paperback and paperback, electronic version, and audiobook. The princes’ memoirs will be translated next month and will be released in 10 more languages.
“We knew Spare would show record sales, but it exceeds our most optimistic expectations,” said Larry Finlay, one of the directors of Penguin Random House, who also confirmed the prince’s primacy in his unspoken competition with Harry Potter.
So far, neither the publishers nor the Duke of Sussex have announced the amount of the contract. But word broke in the British media that the advance received by Harry, who had just agreed to release the revelations from him alone, amounted to a record $20 million.
Regardless of the calculation formula chosen by the prince and his enterprising wife, according to the most conservative estimates, the Sussexes should receive at least 40 million dollars for the “Spare”. The second part of the payment will be deductions for each copy sold, or a flat fee.
But that’s not all: at least 5 million dollars will cost the film rights to the events narrated by Harry. Several Hollywood studios have already shown interest in writing the script and shooting the movie.
The Duke himself stated that he would donate almost all of the fees he received for the book to charity. He even indicated that one of the recipients of the funds he won would be Sentebale, an organization he founded with the prince of the African state of Lesotho, which provides assistance to children with AIDS.
Even if we take into account that the “Spare” will be successfully sold for a long time, Harry’s earnings still do not compare with the income of his older brother, Prince William.
After William and Harry’s father became King Charles III, the eldest of his sons became the heir to the throne, the Prince of Wales.
With this title, William was automatically awarded the Duchy of Cornwall, valued at over a billion dollars, the proceeds of which go exclusively into the pocket of the Prince of Wales. In recent years, the estate has raised at least $25 million a year. Thus, William’s fortune is now estimated at at least $1.35 billion, taking into account the capital he had before he came first in the chain of succession.
